The Journal of the
Mexican Chemical Society
As in any scientific periodical, the peer review procedure is the fundamental element to the maintenance and improvement of the standards of the Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society. The reviewers should inform the Editor without delay if they are unqualified to comment the script, if they have conflict of interests, or if they lack the required time. In such cases, the Editor welcomes suggestions of alternative referees. Referees should comment the scientific significance of the script, including substantive arguments. They should evaluate the script objectively, autonomously and in an appropriate manner, following the accepted ethical procedures of scientific research.
The comments should be written in expressions which do not unveil the identity of the author, and the referees should keep the reviewing process confidential.
It is expected that the referees use their knowledge to remove ambiguities in the scientific content and to improve the presentation (text, figures, tables, formulae) of the script. They are asked to evaluate (a) the pertinence of the introduction, (b) the soundness of the discussion, (c) the accuracy in the description of the experimental procedures, (d) the evidences in support of the structures of new compounds, (e) the relevance of the conclusions (e) the consistency of the literature references.
When necessary, the referees may suggest the revision of the text by a native English speaker. Referees should not make personal censure in their comments.
The members of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society request and acknowledge that reviews be completed within two weeks of receipt of the script.
